One of the bigger stumbling blocks of any private server are the first steps, namely, actually getting in the game, having everything installed and working. This guide will go through every step towards that goal.

First of all, make sure you have these installed:
WinRar: Link
.Net Framework(4.5.1 or newer): Link

Going to the Windictus Download page, you will be met with 3 options:

• Windictus Full Client redirects you to a Google Drive download page, allowing you to download the entire game in a .rar archive(more on that later).
  
• Windictus Full Client Mirror is an alternative to the Google Drive link, and redirects to a Mega.nz page, allowing you to download the entire game.
  
• Windictus Split Client redirects to a Google Drive folder containing 6 individually downloadable parts, most recommended if you have an unstable internet connection, that is prone to disconnecting before the 10+ GB of game can be downloaded.
  

If you still find yourself with issues when trying to download the game, you could try using a download manager and seeing if that helps matters.

When opening the archive, the password you need to write is windictus, that is all lowercase, no spaces. You can extract the files by simply dragging them out of the WinRar window, and dropping them in any other folder. It is recommended that you place the files on an SSD, as it will help greatly, but the choice is yours.

In order to run the game, you will need to go into the folder you have just extracted, and look for the Windictus.exe(or just Windictus) file. If the file isn't there, it is possible that your antivirus incorrectly flagged it as malicious, so you will need to manually add it to an exception list after extracting the files again. You may also want to download just the launcher, in case your antivirus happens to have deleted it already, and you can do so from this link.

In case you use Windows Defender as your antivirus, and the game got flagged previously, these are the steps you should follow in order to exclude it from its scans:

1. From the main page, go to Virus & Threat Protection:

2. Go to Manage Settings:

3. Scroll to the bottom and find Add or remove exclusions:

4. Click on Add an exclusion, then on Folder:

5. Navigate to the Windictus folder, and once you are inside the folder(without anything selected), click on Select Folder:

Congratulations, the game folder will now show up in the exclusions list:

Once you logged in through the launcher, make sure you disable the "Disable Sound(may improve performance)" option before clicking the launch button, else you will have no sound when playing.
